In the United States alone, 1 in 6 people struggle with hunger. So DuPont strives to improve the nutritional content of food by sharing resources and knowledge that can help ensure that recipients of government-funded programs—especially students, families, single parents and soldiers—have access to nutritious, heart-healthy and plentiful food sources. Innovations like Pioneer® brand soybeans with the Plenish® high-oleic soybean oil, and our businesses Solae and Danisco, have led to healthier, more nutritious offerings that use fewer resources and provide an improved nutritional profile to food.
To become a more self-sufficient and sustainable country, we turn to biotechnology and other bio-based solutions to turn alternative fuel sources into primary fuel sources. We’ve been successful in deriving basic materials and fuels we use on a daily basis from renewable, farm-grown sources like corn, soybeans, sugar cane and wheat. Using bioactives, we can improve sustainability profiles, and by unlocking the full potential of biorefineries, we are able to get the most out of our agricultural feedstocks.
To combat unwelcome weeds and brush alongside roadside rights-of-way and public spaces, our invasive species land management solutions maintain the natural beauty of public spaces and help reduce the threat of fire. Our herbicides also help in protecting and preserving investments in pasture and rangeland for cattle and forage producers. In order to prevent the food our citizens eat from doing more harm than good, DuPont works tirelessly to combat dangerous food contaminants. We provide innovative and science-based solutions that are used in everything from manufacturing to processing to packaging. And businesses like Danisco produce food ingredients that can help make food safer and increase its shelf life -- ensuring that the U.S. population has access to food that retains its freshness longer.
