In July 2012, the Economist Intelligence Unit launched the Global Food Security Index, sponsored exclusively by DuPont.
The FSI a price-adjusted tool designed to impartially assess the state of food security across the three internationally established dimensions of food security – affordability, availability and utilization – in 107 countries.
In 2013, DuPont and the EIU launched the global spotlight series, which brings together panels of experts to discuss issues of food security in their countries and regions. To date, events have been held in the United States, Mexico, Chile, Dubai, Singapore and India.
This year DuPont Australia will host a panel of local and international experts in the fields of policy, industry, economics and trade, to discuss ground-breaking new research from the Economist Intelligence Unit into Australia’s contribution to food security in Asia Pacific.
The whitepaper, titled Feeding Asia Pacific: Australia’s role in regional food security will draw on data from the global food security index and other proprietary EIU sources, and provide a deep analysis of the opportunities and threats presented to Australia in meeting the food demands of the Asia Pacific.
